Katie is a reporter with Reuters news agency in New York, currently focused on the social media industry.

Before covering tech, she spent nearly a decade based in the Middle East, primarily reporting on Saudi Arabia and the war in Syria. Over the course of her career, she has uncovered a bustling hidden market for AI training data, sniffed out Facebook’s privacy ‘Switcharoo Plan’, interviewed Prince Alwaleed bin Talal hours before his release from the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton and charted the fracturing of Syria’s rebellion in Idlib. She started out as a cub reporter at Newsweek, way back when.

Katie holds a B.A. in history from Vassar College and a master's degree from the MSFS program at Georgetown University. She is a recipient of an Overseas Press Club scholarship and is certified in emergency medical response by the RISC program for reporters covering conflict.
